And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.2And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins.
And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:3And He said, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them;
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.4for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on."
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,5And while some were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, He said,
As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.6"As for these things which you are looking at, the days will come in which there will not be left one stone upon another which will not be torn down."
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?7They questioned Him, saying, "Teacher, when therefore will these things happen? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?"
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.8And He said, "See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not go after them.
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.9"When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately."
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:10Then He continued by saying to them, "Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom,
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.11and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.12"But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name's sake.
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.13"It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:14"So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves;
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.15for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.16"But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death,
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.17and you will be hated by all because of My name.
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.18"Yet not a hair of your head will perish.
In your patience possess ye your souls.19"By your endurance you will gain your lives.
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.20"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near.
Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.21"Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city;
For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.22because these are days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled.
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.23"Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days; for there will be great distress upon the land and wrath to this people;
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.24and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;25"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.26men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.27"Then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN A CLOUD with power and great glory.
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.28"But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;29Then He told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees;
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.30as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near.
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.31"So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.32"Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.33"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.34"Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap;
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.35for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.36"But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."
