Psalm 30
King James BibleNew Living Translation
A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.1I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.
O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.3You brought me up from the grave, O LORD. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.
Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.4Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.6When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!”
LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.7Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.
I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.8I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying,
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?9“What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness?
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.10Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.”
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;11You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.12that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!
