Psalm 76
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.1God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.2Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home.
There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.3There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Interlude
Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.4You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.5Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.
At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.6At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still.
Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?7No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes?
Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,8From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you.
When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.9You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth. Interlude
Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.10Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.
Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.11Make vows to the LORD your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One.
He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.12For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him.
