Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,1Then the LORD said to Moses,
"Tell Aaron and his sons to be careful with the holy gifts of the sons of Israel, which they dedicate to Me, so as not to profane My holy name; I am the LORD.2“Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings that the Israelites have consecrated to Me, so that they do not profane My holy name. I am the LORD.
"Say to them, 'If any man among all your descendants throughout your generations approaches the holy gifts which the sons of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from before Me; I am the LORD.3Tell them that for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
No man of the descendants of Aaron, who is a leper or who has a discharge, may eat of the holy gifts until he is clean. And if one touches anything made unclean by a corpse or if a man has a seminal emission,4If a descendant of Aaron has a skin disease or a discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is clean. Whoever touches anything defiled by a corpse or by a man who has an emission of semen,
or if a man touches any teeming things by which he is made unclean, or any man by whom he is made unclean, whatever his uncleanness;5or whoever touches a crawling creature or a person that makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be—
a person who touches any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy gifts unless he has bathed his body in water.6the man who touches any of these will remain unclean until evening. He must not eat from the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
But when the sun sets, he will be clean, and afterward he shall eat of the holy gifts, for it is his food.7When the sun has set, he will become clean, and then he may eat from the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
He shall not eat an animal which dies or is torn by beasts, becoming unclean by it; I am the LORD.8He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, which would make him unclean. I am the LORD.
'They shall therefore keep My charge, so that they will not bear sin because of it and die thereby because they profane it; I am the LORD who sanctifies them.9The priests must keep My charge, lest they bear the guilt and die because they profane it. I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
No layman, however, is to eat the holy gift; a sojourner with the priest or a hired man shall not eat of the holy gift.10No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired hand eat it.
But if a priest buys a slave as his property with his money, that one may eat of it, and those who are born in his house may eat of his food.11But if a priest buys a slave with his own money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
If a priest's daughter is married to a layman, she shall not eat of the offering of the gifts.12If the priest’s daughter is married to a man other than a priest, she is not to eat of the sacred contributions.
'But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or divorced, and has no child and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's food; but no layman shall eat of it.13But if a priest’s daughter with no children becomes widowed or divorced and returns to her father’s house, she may share her father’s food as in her youth. But no outsider may share it.
But if a man eats a holy gift unintentionally, then he shall add to it a fifth of it and shall give the holy gift to the priest.14If anyone eats a sacred offering in error, he must add a fifth to its value and give the sacred offering to the priest.
They shall not profane the holy gifts of the sons of Israel which they offer to the LORD,15The priests must not profane the sacred offerings that the Israelites present to the LORD
and so cause them to bear punishment for guilt by eating their holy gifts; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.'"16by allowing the people to eat the sacred offerings and thus to bear the punishment for guilt. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,17Then the LORD said to Moses,
"Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel and say to them, 'Any man of the house of Israel or of the aliens in Israel who presents his offering, whether it is any of their votive or any of their freewill offerings, which they present to the LORD for a burnt offering--18“Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and tell them, ‘Any man of the house of Israel or any foreign resident who presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, whether to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,
for you to be accepted-- it must be a male without defect from the cattle, the sheep, or the goats.19must offer an unblemished male from the cattle, sheep, or goats in order for it to be accepted on your behalf.
'Whatever has a defect, you shall not offer, for it will not be accepted for you.20You must not present anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
'When a man offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or for a freewill offering, of the herd or of the flock, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.21When a man presents a peace offering to the LORD from the herd or flock to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without blemish or defect to be acceptable.
Those that are blind or fractured or maimed or having a running sore or eczema or scabs, you shall not offer to the LORD, nor make of them an offering by fire on the altar to the LORD.22You are not to present to the LORD any animal that is blind, injured, or maimed, or anything with a running sore, a festering rash, or a scab; you must not put any of these on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
In respect to an ox or a lamb which has an overgrown or stunted member, you may present it for a freewill offering, but for a vow it will not be accepted.23You may present as a freewill offering an ox or sheep that has a deformed or stunted limb, but it is not acceptable in fulfillment of a vow.
Also anything with its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut, you shall not offer to the LORD, or sacrifice in your land,24You are not to present to the LORD an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn, or cut; you are not to sacrifice them in your land.
nor shall you accept any such from the hand of a foreigner for offering as the food of your God; for their corruption is in them, they have a defect, they shall not be accepted for you.'"25Neither you nor a foreigner shall present food to your God from any such animal. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and flawed.’ ”
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,26Then the LORD said to Moses,
"When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day on it shall be accepted as a sacrifice of an offering by fire to the LORD.27“When an ox, a sheep, or a goat is born, it must remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
"But, whether it is an ox or a sheep, you shall not kill both it and its young in one day.28But you must not slaughter an ox or a sheep on the same day as its young.
"When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.29When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, offer it so that it may be acceptable on your behalf.
"It shall be eaten on the same day, you shall leave none of it until morning; I am the LORD.30It must be eaten that same day. Do not leave any of it until morning. I am the LORD.
"So you shall keep My commandments, and do them; I am the LORD.31You are to keep My commandments and practice them. I am the LORD.
"You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I am the LORD who sanctifies you,32You must not profane My holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy among the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,
who brought you out from the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am the LORD."33who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD.”
