New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.1After the Sabbaths, around dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to take a look at the burial site.
And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.2Suddenly, there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it.
And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.3His appearance was bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.4Trembling from fear, even the guards themselves became catatonic.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.5Responding to the women, the angel said, "Stop being frightened! I know you're looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.6He is not here. He has been raised, just as he said. Come and see the place where he was lying.
"Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. He is going ahead of you into Galilee, and you will see him there. Remember, I have told you!"
And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.8So they quickly left the tomb, terrified but also ecstatic, and ran to tell Jesus' disciples.
And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.9Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" They went up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him.
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me."10Then Jesus told them, "Stop being frightened! Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."
Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the high priests everything that had happened.
And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,12So they met with the elders and agreed on a plan to give the soldiers a large amount of money.
and said, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'13They said, "Say that Jesus' disciples came at night and stole him while you were sleeping.
"And if this should come to the governor's ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble."14If this is reported to the governor, we'll personally persuade him to keep you out of trouble."
And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.15So the soldiers took the money, did as they were instructed, and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.16The eleven disciples went into Galilee to the hillside to which Jesus had directed them.
When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.17When they saw him, they worshipped him, though some had doubts.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.18Then Jesus approached them and told them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,19Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."20teaching them to obey everything that I've commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age."
