Psalm 37
NASB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
A Psalm of David. Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers.1Don't be angry because of those who do evil, do not be jealous because of those who commit iniquity.
For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb.2Indeed, they soon will wither like grass, and like green herbs they will fade away.
Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.3Trust in the LORD and do good. Dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.4Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.5Commit your way to the LORD; Trust him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday.6He will bring forth your righteousness as a light, and your justice as the noonday sun.
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.7Be silent in the LORD's presence and wait patiently for him. Don't be angry because of the one whose way prospers or the one who implements evil schemes.
Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.8Calm your anger and abandon wrath. Don't be angry— it only leads to evil.
For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.9Those who do evil will perish. But those who wait on the LORD will inherit the land.
Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more; And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.10Yet a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will search for his place, but he will not be there.
But the humble will inherit the land And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.11The humble will inherit the land; they will take in abundant peace.
The wicked plots against the righteous And gnashes at him with his teeth.12The wicked person plots against the righteous, and grinds his teeth at him.
The Lord laughs at him, For He sees his day is coming.13But the Lord laughs at him because he sees that his day is coming!
The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow To cast down the afflicted and the needy, To slay those who are upright in conduct.14The wicked take out a sword and bend the bow, to bring down the humble and the poor to slay those who are righteous in conduct.
Their sword will enter their own heart, And their bows will be broken.15But their sword will pierce their own heart, and their bows will be broken!
Better is the little of the righteous Than the abundance of many wicked.16Better is the little that the righteous have than the abundance of many wicked people.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, But the LORD sustains the righteous.17For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD knows the days of the blameless, And their inheritance will be forever.18The LORD knows the day of the blameless, and their inheritance will last forever.
They will not be ashamed in the time of evil, And in the days of famine they will have abundance.19They will not experience shame in times of trouble; in times of famine they will have plenty.
But the wicked will perish; And the enemies of the LORD will be like the glory of the pastures, They vanish-- like smoke they vanish away.20Indeed, the wicked will perish. The LORD's enemies will be consumed like flowers in the fields. They will vanish like smoke.
The wicked borrows and does not pay back, But the righteous is gracious and gives.21The wicked borrow but never pay back; but the righteous are generous and give.
For those blessed by Him will inherit the land, But those cursed by Him will be cut off.22For those blessed by God will inherit the land, but those cursed by him will be cut off.
The steps of a man are established by the LORD, And He delights in his way.23A man's steps are established by the LORD, and the LORD delights in his way.
When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.24Though he stumbles, he will not fall down flat, for the LORD will hold up his hand.
I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread.25I once was young and now I am old, but I have not seen a righteous person forsaken or his descendants begging for bread.
All day long he is gracious and lends, And his descendants are a blessing.26Every day he is generous, lending freely, and his descendants are blessed.
Depart from evil and do good, So you will abide forever.27Depart from evil, and do good, and you will live in the land forever.
For the LORD loves justice And does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.28Indeed, the LORD loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They are kept safe forever, but the lawless will be chased away, and the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land And dwell in it forever.29The righteous will inherit the land, and they will dwell in it forever.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, And his tongue speaks justice.30The mouth of the righteous one produces wisdom; his tongue speaks justice.
The law of his God is in his heart; His steps do not slip.31The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps will not slip.
The wicked spies upon the righteous And seeks to kill him.32The wicked stalks the righteous person, seeking to kill him,
The LORD will not leave him in his hand Or let him be condemned when he is judged.33but the LORD will not let him fall into his hands. He will not be condemned when he is put on trial.
Wait for the LORD and keep His way, And He will exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.34Wait on the LORD, Keep faithful to his way, and he will exalt you to possess the land. You will see the wicked cut off.
I have seen a wicked, violent man Spreading himself like a luxuriant tree in its native soil.35I once observed a wicked and oppressive person, flourishing like a green tree in native soil.
Then he passed away, and lo, he was no more; I sought for him, but he could not be found.36But then he passed away; in fact, he simply was not there. When I looked for him, he could not be found.
Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright; For the man of peace will have a posterity.37Observe the blameless! Take note of the upright! Indeed, the future of that man is peace.
But transgressors will be altogether destroyed; The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.38Sinners will be destroyed together; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in time of trouble.39But deliverance for the righteous one comes from the LORD; he is their strength in times of distress.
The LORD helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him.40The LORD helps and delivers them; he will deliver them from the wicked, and he will save them because they have sought refuge in him.
