New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
"For behold, in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,1For look! In those days and at that time I will return the exiles to Judah and Jerusalem.
I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.2Then I will gather all the nations, and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. I will enter into judgment against them there concerning my people Israel who are my inheritance, whom they scattered among the nations. They partitioned my land,
"They have also cast lots for My people, Traded a boy for a harlot And sold a girl for wine that they may drink.3and they cast lots for my people. They traded a boy for a prostitute; they sold a little girl for wine so they could drink.
"Moreover, what are you to Me, O Tyre, Sidon and all the regions of Philistia? Are you rendering Me a recompense? But if you do recompense Me, swiftly and speedily I will return your recompense on your head.4Why are you doing these things to me, Tyre and Sidon? Are you trying to get even with me, land of Philistia? I will very quickly repay you for what you have done!
"Since you have taken My silver and My gold, brought My precious treasures to your temples,5For you took my silver and my gold and brought my precious valuables to your own palaces.
and sold the sons of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their territory,6You sold Judeans and Jerusalemites to the Greeks, removing them far from their own country.
behold, I am going to arouse them from the place where you have sold them, and return your recompense on your head.7Look! I am rousing them from that place to which you sold them. I will repay you for what you have done!
"Also I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a distant nation," for the LORD has spoken.8I will sell your sons and daughters to the people of Judah. They will sell them to the Sabeans, a nation far away. Indeed, the LORD has spoken!
Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare a war; rouse the mighty men! Let all the soldiers draw near, let them come up!9Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for a holy war! Call out the warriors! Let all these fighting men approach and attack!
Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, "I am a mighty man."10Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears! Let the weak say, 'I too am a warrior!'
Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Your mighty ones.11Lend your aid and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves to that place." Bring down, O LORD, your warriors!
Let the nations be aroused And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I will sit to judge All the surrounding nations.12Let the nations be roused and let them go up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit in judgment on all the surrounding nations.
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full; The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.13Rush forth with the sickle, for the harvest is ripe! Come, stomp the grapes, for the winepress is full! The vats overflow. Indeed, their evil is great!
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.14Crowds, great crowds are in the valley of decision, for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision!
The sun and moon grow dark And the stars lose their brightness.15The sun and moon are darkened; the stars withhold their brightness.
The LORD roars from Zion And utters His voice from Jerusalem, And the heavens and the earth tremble. But the LORD is a refuge for His people And a stronghold to the sons of Israel.16The LORD roars from Zion; from Jerusalem his voice bellows out. The heavens and the earth shake. But the LORD is a refuge for his people; he is a stronghold for the citizens of Israel.
Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy, And strangers will pass through it no more.17You will be convinced that I the LORD am your God, dwelling on Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy--conquering armies will no longer pass through it.
And in that day The mountains will drip with sweet wine, And the hills will flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah will flow with water; And a spring will go out from the house of the LORD To water the valley of Shittim.18On that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the dry stream beds of Judah will flow with water. A spring will flow out from the temple of the LORD, watering the Valley of Acacia Trees.
Egypt will become a waste, And Edom will become a desolate wilderness, Because of the violence done to the sons of Judah, In whose land they have shed innocent blood.19Egypt will be desolate and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, because of the violence they did to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
But Judah will be inhabited forever And Jerusalem for all generations.20But Judah will reside securely forever, and Jerusalem will be secure from one generation to the next.
And I will avenge their blood which I have not avenged, For the LORD dwells in Zion.21I will avenge their blood which I had not previously acquitted. It is the LORD who dwells in Zion!
