Psalm 2
NASB Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?1Why do the nations rebel? Why are the countries devising plots that will fail?
The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2The kings of the earth form a united front; the rulers collaborate against the LORD and his anointed king.
"Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"3They say, "Let's tear off the shackles they've put on us! Let's free ourselves from their ropes!"
He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.4The one enthroned in heaven laughs in disgust; the Lord taunts them.
Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,5Then he angrily speaks to them and terrifies them in his rage, saying,
"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."6"I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."
"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7The king says, "I will announce the LORD's decree. He said to me: 'You are my son! This very day I have become your father!
Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.8Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your personal property.
'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"9You will break them with an iron scepter; you will smash them like a potter's jar!'"
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.10So now, you kings, do what is wise; you rulers of the earth, submit to correction!
Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD in fear! Repent in terror!
Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!12Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!
