| 2Who devise evil things in their hearts; They continually stir up wars. | 2who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day. |
| 3They sharpen their tongues as a serpent; Poison of a viper is under their lips. Selah. | 3They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's; the poison of vipers is on their lips. |
| 4Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from violent men Who have purposed to trip up my feet. | 4Keep me safe, LORD, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet. |
| 5The proud have hidden a trap for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set snares for me. Selah. | 5The arrogant have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path. |
