Psalm 58
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
1For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David. Do you indeed speak righteousness, O gods? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?1Justice—do you rulers know the meaning of the word? Do you judge the people fairly?
2No, in heart you work unrighteousness; On earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.2No! You plot injustice in your hearts. You spread violence throughout the land.
3The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.3These wicked people are born sinners; even from birth they have lied and gone their own way.
4They have venom like the venom of a serpent; Like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear,4They spit venom like deadly snakes; they are like cobras that refuse to listen,
5So that it does not hear the voice of charmers, Or a skillful caster of spells.5ignoring the tunes of the snake charmers, no matter how skillfully they play.
6O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth; Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD.6Break off their fangs, O God! Smash the jaws of these lions, O LORD!
7Let them flow away like water that runs off; When he aims his arrows, let them be as headless shafts.7May they disappear like water into thirsty ground. Make their weapons useless in their hands.
8Let them be as a snail which melts away as it goes along, Like the miscarriages of a woman which never see the sun.8May they be like snails that dissolve into slime, like a stillborn child who will never see the sun.
9Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.9God will sweep them away, both young and old, faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.
10The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.10The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged. They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11And men will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!"11Then at last everyone will say, “There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”
