Be merciful to me, O God, for men are hounding me; all day they press their attack. |
| 2Those who anticipate my defeat attack me all day long. Indeed, many are fighting against me, O Exalted One. | 2My enemies pursue me all day long, for many proudly assail me. |
| 3When I am afraid, I trust in you. | 3When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. |
| 4In God--I boast in his promise--in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me? | 4In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? |
| 5All day long they cause me trouble; they make a habit of plotting my demise. | 5All day long they twist my words; all their thoughts are on my demise. |
| 6They stalk and lurk; they watch my every step, as they prepare to take my life. | 6They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps while they wait to take my life. |
| 7Because they are bent on violence, do not let them escape! In your anger bring down the nations, O God! | 7In spite of such sin, will they escape? In Your anger, O God, cast down the nations. |
