Psalm 62
NET BibleBerean Study Bible
For the music director, Jeduthun; a psalm of David. For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me. 1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 2He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken.
How long will you threaten a man? All of you are murderers, as dangerous as a leaning wall or an unstable fence. 3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning wall or a tottering fence?
They spend all their time planning how to bring him down. They love to use deceit; they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. (Selah) 4They fully intend to cast him down from his lofty perch; they delight in lies; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence. 5Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 6He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken.
God delivers me and exalts me; God is my strong protector and my shelter. 7My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our shelter! (Selah) 8Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah
Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air. 9Lowborn men are but a vapor, the exalted but a lie. Weighed on the scale, they go up; together they are but a vapor.
Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it! 10Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: God is strong, 11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God,
and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do. 12and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds.
