NET BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
For the music director, Jeduthun; a psalm of David. For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me. 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 2He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
How long will you threaten a man? All of you are murderers, as dangerous as a leaning wall or an unstable fence. 3How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They spend all their time planning how to bring him down. They love to use deceit; they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. (Selah) 4They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah.
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence. 5My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 6He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
God delivers me and exalts me; God is my strong protector and my shelter. 7On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our shelter! (Selah) 8Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air. 9Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath.
Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it! 10Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: God is strong, 11Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God;
and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do. 12And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work.
