Hebrews 3
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,1Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God's house.2who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house.
For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself!3For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.4(For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken.5Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,
But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. We are of his house, if in fact we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we take pride in. 6but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! 7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice,
"Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness. 8do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
"There your fathers tested me and tried me, and they saw my works for forty years. 9where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years.
"Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said, 'Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.' 10Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.’
"As I swore in my anger, 'They will never enter my rest!'" 11As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest.’”
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes the living God.12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called "Today," that none of you may become hardened by sin's deception.13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
For we have become partners with Christ, if in fact we hold our initial confidence firm until the end.14For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
As it says, "Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."15As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
For which ones heard and rebelled? Was it not all who came out of Egypt under Moses' leadership?16For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?
And against whom was God provoked for forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?17And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
And to whom did he swear they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient?18And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
So we see that they could not enter because of unbelief. 19So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.
