Psalm 17
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
A prayer of David. LORD, consider my just cause! Pay attention to my cry for help! Listen to the prayer I sincerely offer! 1Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!
Make a just decision on my behalf! Decide what is right! 2From your presence let my vindication come! Let your eyes behold the right!
You have scrutinized my inner motives; you have examined me during the night. You have carefully evaluated me, but you find no sin. I am determined I will say nothing sinful. 3You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
As for the actions of people--just as you have commanded, I have not followed in the footsteps of violent men. 4With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
I carefully obey your commands; I do not deviate from them. 5My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
I call to you for you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say! 6I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words.
Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies. 7Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.
Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye! Hide me in the shadow of your wings! 8Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,
Protect me from the wicked men who attack me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill. 9from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me.
They are calloused; they speak arrogantly. 10They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
They attack me, now they surround me; they intend to throw me to the ground. 11They have now surrounded our steps; they set their eyes to cast us to the ground.
He is like a lion that wants to tear its prey to bits, like a young lion crouching in hidden places. 12He is like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush.
Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man! 13Arise, O LORD! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring. 14from men by your hand, O LORD, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants.
As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; when I awake you will reveal yourself to me. 15As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
