Psalm 17
NET Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew International Version
A prayer of David. LORD, consider my just cause! Pay attention to my cry for help! Listen to the prayer I sincerely offer! 1A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, my plea is just; listen to my cry. Hear my prayer-- it does not rise from deceitful lips.
Make a just decision on my behalf! Decide what is right! 2Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.
You have scrutinized my inner motives; you have examined me during the night. You have carefully evaluated me, but you find no sin. I am determined I will say nothing sinful. 3Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.
As for the actions of people--just as you have commanded, I have not followed in the footsteps of violent men. 4Though people tried to bribe me, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded.
I carefully obey your commands; I do not deviate from them. 5My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled.
I call to you for you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say! 6I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies. 7Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye! Hide me in the shadow of your wings! 8Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
Protect me from the wicked men who attack me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill. 9from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.
They are calloused; they speak arrogantly. 10They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.
They attack me, now they surround me; they intend to throw me to the ground. 11They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
He is like a lion that wants to tear its prey to bits, like a young lion crouching in hidden places. 12They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a fierce lion crouching in cover.
Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man! 13Rise up, LORD, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked.
LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring. 14By your hand save me from such people, LORD, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.
As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; when I awake you will reveal yourself to me. 15As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
