Psalm 90
NET Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleInternational Standard Version
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, you have been our protector through all generations! 1Lord, you've been our refuge from generation to generation.
Even before the mountains came into existence, or you brought the world into being, you were the eternal God. 2Before the mountains were formed or the earth and the world were brought forth, you are God from eternity to eternity.
You make mankind return to the dust, and say, "Return, O people!" 3You return people to dust merely by saying, "Return, you mortals!"
Yes, in your eyes a thousand years are like yesterday that quickly passes, or like one of the divisions of the nighttime. 4One thousand years in your sight are but a single day that passes by, just like a night watch.
You bring their lives to an end and they "fall asleep." In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up; 5You will sweep them away while they are asleep— by morning they are like growing grass.
in the morning it glistens and sprouts up; at evening time it withers and dries up. 6In the morning it blossoms and is renewed, but toward evening, it fades and withers.
Yes, we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath. 7Indeed, we are consumed by your anger and terrified by your wrath.
You are aware of our sins; you even know about our hidden sins. 8You have set our iniquities before you, what we have concealed in the light of your presence.
Yes, throughout all our days we experience your raging fury; the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh. 9All our days pass away in your wrath; our years fade away and end like a sigh.
The days of our lives add up to seventy years, or eighty, if one is especially strong. But even one's best years are marred by trouble and oppression. Yes, they pass quickly and we fly away. 10We live for 70 years, or 80 years if we're healthy, yet even in the prime years there are troubles and sorrow. They pass by quickly and we fly away.
Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? Your raging fury causes people to fear you. 11Who can know the intensity of your anger? Because our fear of you matches your wrath,
So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely. 12teach us to keep account of our days so we may develop inner wisdom.
Turn back toward us, O LORD! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants! 13Please return, LORD! When will it be? Comfort your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love! Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days! 14Satisfy us in the morning with your gracious love so we may sing for joy and rejoice every day.
Make us happy in proportion to the days you have afflicted us, in proportion to the years we have experienced trouble! 15Cause us to rejoice throughout the time when you have afflicted us, the years when we have known trouble.
May your servants see your work! May their sons see your majesty! 16May your awesome deeds be revealed to your servants, as well as your splendor to their children.
May our sovereign God extend his favor to us! Make our endeavors successful! Yes, make them successful! 17May your favor be on us, Lord our God; make our endeavors successful; yes, make our endeavors secure!
