Psalm 63
NET BibleKing James Bible
A psalm of David, written when he was in the Judean wilderness. O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. 1A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
Yes, in the sanctuary I have seen you, and witnessed your power and splendor. 2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because experiencing your loyal love is better than life itself, my lips will praise you. 3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
For this reason I will praise you while I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
As if with choice meat you satisfy my soul. My mouth joyfully praises you, 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
whenever I remember you on my bed, and think about you during the nighttime hours. 6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
For you are my deliverer; under your wings I rejoice. 7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul pursues you; your right hand upholds me. 8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
Enemies seek to destroy my life, but they will descend into the depths of the earth. 9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
Each one will be handed over to the sword; their corpses will be eaten by jackals. 10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
But the king will rejoice in God; everyone who takes oaths in his name will boast, for the mouths of those who speak lies will be shut up. 11But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
