The LORD spoke to Moses:1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
"Tell Aaron and his sons that they must deal respectfully with the holy offerings of the Israelites, which they consecrate to me, so that they do not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.2"Tell Aaron and his sons to be careful with the holy gifts of the sons of Israel, which they dedicate to Me, so as not to profane My holy name; I am the LORD.
Say to them, 'Throughout your generations, if any man from all your descendants approaches the holy offerings which the Israelites consecrate to the LORD while he is impure, that person must be cut off from before me. I am the LORD.3"Say to them, 'If any man among all your descendants throughout your generations approaches the holy gifts which the sons of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from before Me; I am the LORD.
No man from the descendants of Aaron who is diseased or has a discharge may eat the holy offerings until he becomes clean. The one who touches anything made unclean by contact with a dead person, or a man who has a seminal emission,4No man of the descendants of Aaron, who is a leper or who has a discharge, may eat of the holy gifts until he is clean. And if one touches anything made unclean by a corpse or if a man has a seminal emission,
or a man who touches a swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, or touches a person by which he becomes unclean, whatever that person's impurity--5or if a man touches any teeming things by which he is made unclean, or any man by whom he is made unclean, whatever his uncleanness;
the person who touches any of these will be unclean until evening and must not eat from the holy offerings unless he has bathed his body in water.6a person who touches any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy gifts unless he has bathed his body in water.
When the sun goes down he will be clean, and afterward he may eat from the holy offerings, because they are his food.7But when the sun sets, he will be clean, and afterward he shall eat of the holy gifts, for it is his food.
He must not eat an animal that has died of natural causes or an animal torn by beasts and thus become unclean by it. I am the LORD.8He shall not eat an animal which dies or is torn by beasts, becoming unclean by it; I am the LORD.
They must keep my charge so that they do not incur sin on account of it and therefore die because they profane it. I am the LORD who sanctifies them. 9'They shall therefore keep My charge, so that they will not bear sin because of it and die thereby because they profane it; I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
"'No lay person may eat anything holy. Neither a priest's lodger nor a hired laborer may eat anything holy,10No layman, however, is to eat the holy gift; a sojourner with the priest or a hired man shall not eat of the holy gift.
but if a priest buys a person with his own money, that person may eat the holy offerings, and those born in the priest's own house may eat his food.11But if a priest buys a slave as his property with his money, that one may eat of it, and those who are born in his house may eat of his food.
If a priest's daughter marries a lay person, she may not eat the holy contribution offerings,12If a priest's daughter is married to a layman, she shall not eat of the offering of the gifts.
but if a priest's daughter is a widow or divorced, and she has no children so that she returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat from her father's food, but no lay person may eat it. 13'But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or divorced, and has no child and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's food; but no layman shall eat of it.
"'If a man eats a holy offering by mistake, he must add one fifth to it and give the holy offering to the priest.14But if a man eats a holy gift unintentionally, then he shall add to it a fifth of it and shall give the holy gift to the priest.
They must not profane the holy offerings which the Israelites contribute to the LORD,15They shall not profane the holy gifts of the sons of Israel which they offer to the LORD,
and so cause them to incur a penalty for guilt when they eat their holy offerings, for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.'" 16and so cause them to bear punishment for guilt by eating their holy gifts; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.'"
The LORD spoke to Moses:17Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
"Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites and tell them, 'When any man from the house of Israel or from the foreigners in Israel presents his offering for any of the votive or freewill offerings which they present to the LORD as a burnt offering,18"Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel and say to them, 'Any man of the house of Israel or of the aliens in Israel who presents his offering, whether it is any of their votive or any of their freewill offerings, which they present to the LORD for a burnt offering--
if it is to be acceptable for your benefit it must be a flawless male from the cattle, sheep, or goats.19for you to be accepted-- it must be a male without defect from the cattle, the sheep, or the goats.
You must not present anything that has a flaw, because it will not be acceptable for your benefit.20'Whatever has a defect, you shall not offer, for it will not be accepted for you.
If a man presents a peace offering sacrifice to the LORD for a special votive offering or for a freewill offering from the herd or the flock, it must be flawless to be acceptable; it must have no flaw. 21'When a man offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or for a freewill offering, of the herd or of the flock, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.
"'You must not present to the LORD something blind, or with a broken bone, or mutilated, or with a running sore, or with a festering eruption, or with a feverish rash. You must not give any of these as a gift on the altar to the LORD.22Those that are blind or fractured or maimed or having a running sore or eczema or scabs, you shall not offer to the LORD, nor make of them an offering by fire on the altar to the LORD.
As for an ox or a sheep with a limb too long or stunted, you may present it as a freewill offering, but it will not be acceptable for a votive offering.23In respect to an ox or a lamb which has an overgrown or stunted member, you may present it for a freewill offering, but for a vow it will not be accepted.
You must not present to the LORD something with testicles that are bruised, crushed, torn, or cut off; you must not do this in your land.24Also anything with its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut, you shall not offer to the LORD, or sacrifice in your land,
Even from a foreigner you must not present the food of your God from such animals as these, for they are ruined and flawed; they will not be acceptable for your benefit.'" 25nor shall you accept any such from the hand of a foreigner for offering as the food of your God; for their corruption is in them, they have a defect, they shall not be accepted for you.'"
The LORD spoke to Moses:26Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
"When an ox, lamb, or goat is born, it must be under the care of its mother seven days, but from the eighth day onward it will be acceptable as an offering gift to the LORD.27"When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day on it shall be accepted as a sacrifice of an offering by fire to the LORD.
You must not slaughter an ox or a sheep and its young on the same day.28"But, whether it is an ox or a sheep, you shall not kill both it and its young in one day.
When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the LORD, you must sacrifice it so that it is acceptable for your benefit.29"When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.
On that very day it must be eaten; you must not leave any part of it over until morning. I am the LORD. 30"It shall be eaten on the same day, you shall leave none of it until morning; I am the LORD.
"You must be sure to do my commandments. I am the LORD.31"So you shall keep My commandments, and do them; I am the LORD.
You must not profane my holy name, and I will be sanctified in the midst of the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,32"You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I am the LORD who sanctifies you,
the one who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD." 33who brought you out from the land of Egypt, to be your God; I am the LORD."
