NET Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out its seven pillars. 1Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;
She has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine; she also has arranged her table. 2She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; She has also set her table;
She has sent out her female servants; she calls out on the highest places of the city. 3She has sent out her maidens, she calls From the tops of the heights of the city:
"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," she says to those who lack understanding. 4"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!" To him who lacks understanding she says,
"Come, eat some of my food, and drink some of the wine I have mixed. 5"Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed.
Abandon your foolish ways so that you may live, and proceed in the way of understanding." 6"Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding."
Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult; whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse. 7He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
Do not reprove a mocker or he will hate you; reprove a wise person and he will love you. 8Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise person, and he will become wiser still; teach a righteous person and he will add to his learning. 9Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.
The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD, and acknowledging the Holy One is understanding. 10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For because of me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. 11For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.
If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage, but if you are a mocker, you alone must bear it. 12If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.
The woman called Folly is brash, she is naive and does not know anything. 13The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive and knows nothing.
So she sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, 14She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city,
calling out to those who are passing by her in the way, who go straight on their way. 15Calling to those who pass by, Who are making their paths straight:
"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here," she says to those who lack understanding. 16"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," And to him who lacks understanding she says,
"Stolen waters are sweet, and food obtained in secret is pleasant!" 17"Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
But they do not realize that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave. 18But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
