Then the LORD spoke to Moses:1Then the LORD said to Moses,
"On the first day of the first month you are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.2“Set up the Tabernacle on the first day of the new year.
You are to place the ark of the testimony in it and shield the ark with the special curtain.3Place the Ark of the Covenant inside, and install the inner curtain to enclose the Ark within the Most Holy Place.
You are to bring in the table and set out the things that belong on it; then you are to bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.4Then bring in the table, and arrange the utensils on it. And bring in the lampstand, and set up the lamps.
You are to put the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.5“Place the gold incense altar in front of the Ark of the Covenant. Then hang the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle.
You are to put the altar for the burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.6Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the Tabernacle entrance.
You are to put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.7Set the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar, and fill it with water.
You are to set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the gate of the courtyard.8Then set up the courtyard around the outside of the tent, and hang the curtain for the courtyard entrance.
And take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and sanctify it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.9“Take the anointing oil and anoint the Tabernacle and all its furnishings to consecrate them and make them holy.
Then you are to anoint the altar for the burnt offering with all its utensils; you are to sanctify the altar, and it will be the most holy altar.10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and its utensils to consecrate them. Then the altar will become absolutely holy.
You must also anoint the large basin and its pedestal, and you are to sanctify it. 11Next anoint the washbasin and its stand to consecrate them.
"You are to bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.12“Present Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and wash them with water.
Then you are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments and anoint him and sanctify him so that he may minister as my priest.13Dress Aaron with the sacred garments and anoint him, consecrating him to serve me as a priest.
You are to bring his sons and clothe them with tunics14Then present his sons and dress them in their tunics.
and anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may minister as my priests; their anointing will make them a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations."15Anoint them as you did their father, so they may also serve me as priests. With their anointing, Aaron’s descendants are set apart for the priesthood forever, from generation to generation.”
This is what Moses did, according to all the LORD had commanded him--so he did. 16Moses proceeded to do everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month, in the second year.17So the Tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month of the second year.
When Moses set up the tabernacle and put its bases in place, he set up its frames, attached its bars, and set up its posts.18Moses erected the Tabernacle by setting down its bases, inserting the frames, attaching the crossbars, and setting up the posts.
Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.19Then he spread the coverings over the Tabernacle framework and put on the protective layers, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He took the testimony and put it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and then put the atonement lid on the ark.20He took the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant and placed them inside the Ark. Then he attached the carrying poles to the Ark, and he set the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—on top of it.
And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, hung the protecting curtain, and shielded the ark of the testimony from view, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 21Then he brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Tabernacle and hung the inner curtain to shield it from view, just as the LORD had commanded him.
And he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the curtain.22Next Moses placed the table in the Tabernacle, along the north side of the Holy Place, just outside the inner curtain.
And he set the bread in order on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 23And he arranged the Bread of the Presence on the table before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
And he put the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle.24He set the lampstand in the Tabernacle across from the table on the south side of the Holy Place.
Then he set up the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 25Then he lit the lamps in the LORD’s presence, just as the LORD had commanded him.
And he put the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain,26He also placed the gold incense altar in the Tabernacle, in the Holy Place in front of the inner curtain.
and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 27On it he burned the fragrant incense, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Then he put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.28He hung the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle,
He also put the altar for the burnt offering by the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 29and he placed the altar of burnt offering near the Tabernacle entrance. On it he offered a burnt offering and a grain offering, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Then he put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.30Next Moses placed the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar. He filled it with water so the priests could wash themselves.
Moses and Aaron and his sons would wash their hands and their feet from it.31Moses and Aaron and Aaron’s sons used water from it to wash their hands and feet.
Whenever they entered the tent of meeting, and whenever they approached the altar, they would wash, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 32Whenever they approached the altar and entered the Tabernacle, they washed themselves, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And he set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and the altar, and put the curtain at the gate of the courtyard. So Moses finished the work. 33Then he hung the curtains forming the courtyard around the Tabernacle and the altar. And he set up the curtain at the entrance of the courtyard. So at last Moses finished the work. The LORD’s Glory Fills the Tabernacle
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
But when the cloud was lifted up from the tabernacle, the Israelites would set out on all their journeys;36Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it.
but if the cloud was not lifted up, then they would not journey further until the day it was lifted up.37But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted.
For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, but fire would be on it at night, in plain view of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys. 38The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.
