Psalm 10
NIV Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionBerean Study Bible
Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?1Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?
In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.2In pride the wicked pursue the needy; let them be caught in the schemes they devise.
He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.3For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.4In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies.5He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.
He says to himself, "Nothing will ever shake me." He swears, "No one will ever do me harm."6He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.7His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and violence; trouble and malice are under his tongue.
He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent. His eyes watch in secret for his victims;8He lies in wait near the villages; in ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in stealth for the helpless.
like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.9He lies in wait like a lion in a thicket; he lurks to seize the oppressed; he catches the lowly in his net.
His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength.10They are crushed and beaten down; the hapless fall prey to his strength.
He says to himself, "God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees."11He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”
Arise, LORD! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.12Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God! Do not forget the helpless.
Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?13Why has the wicked man renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.14But You have regarded trouble and grief; You see to repay it by Your hand. The victim entrusts himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked man; call the evildoer to account for his wickedness that would not otherwise be found out.15Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call him to account for his wickedness until none is left to be found.
The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.16The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations perish from His land.
You, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,17You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear,
defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror.18to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more.
