New International VersionBerean Study Bible
Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.1Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.2He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him?
They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Part your heavens, LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them.6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners7Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners,
whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.8whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,9I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—
to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David. From the deadly sword10to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields.
our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.14Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets.
Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD.15Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
