Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.1A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.2My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?3LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.4Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
Part your heavens, LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.5Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them.6Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners7Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.8Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,9I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David. From the deadly sword10It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.11Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;13That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.14That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD.15Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
