Psalm 144
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.1Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle.
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.2He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him. He makes the nations submit to me.
LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?3O LORD, what are human beings that you should notice them, mere mortals that you should think about them?
They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.4For they are like a breath of air; their days are like a passing shadow.
Part your heavens, LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.5Open the heavens, LORD, and come down. Touch the mountains so they billow smoke.
Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them.6Hurl your lightning bolts and scatter your enemies! Shoot your arrows and confuse them!
Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners7Reach down from heaven and rescue me; rescue me from deep waters, from the power of my enemies.
whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.8Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.
I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,9I will sing a new song to you, O God! I will sing your praises with a ten-stringed harp.
to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David. From the deadly sword10For you grant victory to kings! You rescued your servant David from the fatal sword.
deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.11Save me! Rescue me from the power of my enemies. Their mouths are full of lies; they swear to tell the truth, but they lie instead.
Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.12May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.
Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;13May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands,
our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.14and may our oxen be loaded down with produce. May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares.
Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD.15Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the LORD.
