Psalm 90
NIV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionChristian Standard Bible
A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.1Lord, you have been our refuge in every generation.
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.2Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.
You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, you mortals."3You return mankind to the dust, saying, "Return, descendants of Adam."
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.4For in your sight a thousand years are like yesterday that passes by, like a few hours of the night.
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death-- they are like the new grass of the morning:5You end their lives; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning--
In the morning it springs up new, but by evening it is dry and withered.6in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up.
We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation.7For we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.8You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.
All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan.9For all our days ebb away under your wrath; we end our years like a sigh.
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.10Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.
If only we knew the power of your anger! Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.11Who understands the power of your anger? Your wrath matches the fear that is due you.
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.12Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.
Relent, LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants.13LORD--how long? Turn and have compassion on your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.14Satisfy us in the morning with your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.15Make us rejoice for as many days as you have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity.
May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children.16Let your work be seen by your servants, and your splendor by their children.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands.17Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands--establish the work of our hands!
