For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lilies of the Covenant." Of Asaph. A psalm. Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth1For the choir director: according to "The Lilies." A testimony of Asaph. A psalm. Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned on the cherubim, rise up
before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us.2before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your power and come to save us.
Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.3Restore us, God; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people?4 LORD God of Hosts, how long will You be angry with Your people's prayers?
You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.5You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure of tears to drink.
You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us.6You make us quarrel with our neighbors; our enemies make fun of us.
Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.7Restore us, God of Hosts; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
You transplanted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.9You cleared a place for it; it took root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches.10The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.
Its branches reached as far as the Sea, its shoots as far as the River.11It sent out sprouts toward the Sea and shoots toward the River.
Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes?12Why have You broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its fruit?
Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it.13The boar from the forest tears it and creatures of the field feed on it.
Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine,14Return, God of Hosts. Look down from heaven and see; take care of this vine,
the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself.15the root Your right hand has planted, the shoot that You made strong for Yourself.
Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish.16It was cut down and burned up; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself.17Let Your hand be with the man at Your right hand, with the son of man You have made strong for Yourself.
Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.18Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.
Restore us, LORD God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.19Restore us, Yahweh, the God of Hosts; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
