Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God's holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love4just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love
he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--5He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.6to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,8which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight
he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,9He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him
to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.10with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,11also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.12to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,13In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.14who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people,15For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints,
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.16do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength19and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might
he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,20which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,22And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
