Psalm 76
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song. God is renowned in Judah; in Israel his name is great.1God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.2Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home.
There he broke the flashing arrows, the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.3There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Interlude
You are radiant with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game.4You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
The valiant lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands.5Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.6At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still.
It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?7No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes?
From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet--8From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you.
when you, God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land.9You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth. Interlude
Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.10Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.
Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.11Make vows to the LORD your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One.
He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth.12For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him.
