| 2Raise a song and strike the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the lute. | 2Lift up a song, strike the tambourine, play the sweet-sounding harp and lyre. |
| 3Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day. | 3Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and at the full moon on the day of our Feast. |
| 4For this is a statute for Israel, A law of the God of Jacob. | 4For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. |
| 5This He established in Joseph as a testimony, When He went throughout the land of Egypt, Where I heard a language I did not understand. | 5He ordained it as a testimony for Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt, where I heard an unfamiliar language: |

| 11“But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. | 11But My people would not listen to Me, and Israel would not obey Me. |
| 12So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels. | 12So I gave them up to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. |
| 13“Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! | 13If only My people would listen to Me, if Israel would follow My ways, |
| 14I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries. | 14how soon I would subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes! |
| 15The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever. | 15Those who hate the LORD would feign obedience, and their doom would last forever. |
