New King James VersionNET Bible
To the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength; Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.1For the music director; according to the gittith style; by Asaph. Shout for joy to God, our source of strength! Shout out to the God of Jacob!
Raise a song and strike the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the lute.2Sing a song and play the tambourine, the pleasant sounding harp, and the ten-stringed instrument!
Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.3Sound the ram's horn on the day of the new moon, and on the day of the full moon when our festival begins.
For this is a statute for Israel, A law of the God of Jacob.4For observing the festival is a requirement for Israel; it is an ordinance given by the God of Jacob.
This He established in Joseph as a testimony, When He went throughout the land of Egypt, Where I heard a language I did not understand.5He decreed it as a regulation in Joseph, when he attacked the land of Egypt. I heard a voice I did not recognize.
“I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed from the baskets.6It said: "I removed the burden from his shoulder; his hands were released from holding the basket.
You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah7In your distress you called out and I rescued you. I answered you from a dark thundercloud. I tested you at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
“Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me!8I said, 'Listen, my people! I will warn you! O Israel, if only you would obey me!
There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god.9There must be no other god among you. You must not worship a foreign god.
I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.10I am the LORD, your God, the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it!'
“But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me.11But my people did not obey me; Israel did not submit to me.
So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels.12I gave them over to their stubborn desires; they did what seemed right to them.
“Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!13If only my people would obey me! If only Israel would keep my commands!
I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries.14Then I would quickly subdue their enemies, and attack their adversaries."
The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever.15(May those who hate the LORD cower in fear before him! May they be permanently humiliated!)
He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.”16"I would feed Israel the best wheat, and would satisfy your appetite with honey from the rocky cliffs."
