But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
