New King James VersionNET Bible
And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne.1As I watched, I saw on the platform above the top of the cherubim something like a sapphire, resembling the shape of a throne, appearing above them.
Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in as I watched.2The LORD said to the man dressed in linen, "Go between the wheelwork underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city." He went as I watched.
Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.3(The cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court.)
Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and paused over the threshold of the temple; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory.4Then the glory of the LORD arose from the cherub and moved to the threshold of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud while the court was filled with the brightness of the LORD's glory.
And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even in the outer court, like the voice of Almighty God when He speaks.5The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard from the outer court, like the sound of the sovereign God when he speaks.
Then it happened, when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” that he went in and stood beside the wheels.6When the LORD commanded the man dressed in linen, "Take fire from within the wheelwork, from among the cherubim," the man went in and stood by one of the wheels.
And the cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was among the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed with linen, who took it and went out.7Then one of the cherubim stretched out his hand toward the fire which was among the cherubim. He took some and put it into the hands of the man dressed in linen, who took it and left.
The cherubim appeared to have the form of a man’s hand under their wings.8(The cherubim appeared to have the form of human hands under their wings.)
And when I looked, there were four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub and another wheel by each other cherub; the wheels appeared to have the color of a beryl stone.9As I watched, I noticed four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; the wheels gleamed like jasper.
As for their appearance, all four looked alike—as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.10As for their appearance, all four of them looked the same, something like a wheel within a wheel.
When they went, they went toward any of their four directions; they did not turn aside when they went, but followed in the direction the head was facing. They did not turn aside when they went.11When they moved, they would go in any of the four directions they faced without turning as they moved; in the direction the head would turn they would follow without turning as they moved,
And their whole body, with their back, their hands, their wings, and the wheels that the four had, were full of eyes all around.12along with their entire bodies, their backs, their hands, and their wings. The wheels of the four of them were full of eyes all around.
As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, “Wheel.”13As for their wheels, they were called "the wheelwork" as I listened.
Each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second face the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.14Each of the cherubim had four faces: The first was the face of a cherub, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.
And the cherubim were lifted up. This was the living creature I saw by the River Chebar.15The cherubim rose up; these were the living beings I saw at the Kebar River.
When the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them.16When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them; when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not move from their side.
When the cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still, and when one was lifted up, the other lifted itself up, for the spirit of the living creature was in them.17When the cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still, and when they rose up, the wheels rose up with them, for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.
Then the glory of the LORD departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim.18Then the glory of the LORD moved away from the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.
And the cherubim lifted their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels were beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.19The cherubim spread their wings, and they rose up from the earth while I watched (when they went the wheels went alongside them). They stopped at the entrance to the east gate of the LORD's temple as the glory of the God of Israel hovered above them.
This is the living creature I saw under the God of Israel by the River Chebar, and I knew they were cherubim.20These were the living creatures which I saw at the Kebar River underneath the God of Israel; I knew that they were cherubim.
Each one had four faces and each one four wings, and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.21Each had four faces; each had four wings and the form of human hands under the wings.
And the likeness of their faces was the same as the faces which I had seen by the River Chebar, their appearance and their persons. They each went straight forward.22As for the form of their faces, they were the faces whose appearance I had seen at the Kebar River. Each one moved straight ahead.
