In Salem also is His tabernacle, And His dwelling place in Zion.2He lives in Salem; he dwells in Zion.
There He broke the arrows of the bow, The shield and sword of battle. Selah3There he shattered the arrows, the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. (Selah)
You are more glorious and excellent Than the mountains of prey.4You shine brightly and reveal your majesty, as you descend from the hills where you killed your prey.
The stouthearted were plundered; They have sunk into their sleep; And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.5The bravehearted were plundered; they "fell asleep." All the warriors were helpless.
At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both the chariot and horse were cast into a dead sleep.6At the sound of your battle cry, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse "fell asleep."
You, Yourself, are to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence When once You are angry?7You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger?
You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still,8From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. The earth was afraid and silent
When God arose to judgment, To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah9when God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)
Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.10Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure.
Make vows to the LORD your God, and pay them; Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.11Make vows to the LORD your God and repay them! Let all those who surround him bring tribute to the awesome one!
He shall cut off the spirit of princes; He is awesome to the kings of the earth.12He humbles princes; the kings of the earth regard him as awesome.
