Exodus 30
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
“You shall make an altar to burn incense on; you shall make it of acacia wood.1"Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense.
A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its width—it shall be square—and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it.2It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high --its horns of one piece with it.
And you shall overlay its top, its sides all around, and its horns with pure gold; and you shall make for it a molding of gold all around.3Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.
Two gold rings you shall make for it, under the molding on both its sides. You shall place them on its two sides, and they will be holders for the poles with which to bear it.4Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding--two on each of the opposite sides--to hold the poles used to carry it.
You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.5Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you.6Put the altar in front of the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law--before the atonement cover that is over the tablets of the covenant law--where I will meet with you.
“Aaron shall burn on it sweet incense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it.7"Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps.
And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.8He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the LORD for the generations to come.
You shall not offer strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it.9Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it.
And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD.”10Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the LORD."
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:11Then the LORD said to Moses,
“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give a ransom for himself to the LORD, when you number them, that there may be no plague among them when you number them.12"When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the LORD a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them.
This is what everyone among those who are numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel is twenty gerahs). The half-shekel shall be an offering to the LORD.13Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the LORD.
Everyone included among those who are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering to the LORD.14All who cross over, those twenty years old or more, are to give an offering to the LORD.
The rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give an offering to the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.15The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the LORD to atone for your lives.
And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.”16Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD, making atonement for your lives."
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:17Then the LORD said to Moses,
“You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it,18"Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it.19Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it.
When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die.20Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the LORD,
So they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die. And it shall be a statute forever to them—to him and his descendants throughout their generations.”21they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come."
Moreover the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:22Then the LORD said to Moses,
“Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane,23"Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus,
five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.24500 shekels of cassia--all according to the sanctuary shekel--and a hin of olive oil.
And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil.25Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil.
With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony;26Then use it to anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law,
the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense;27the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense,
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.28the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand.
You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy.29You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.
And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.30"Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.
“And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations.31Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come.
It shall not be poured on man’s flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.32Do not pour it on anyone else's body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.
Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.’ ”33Whoever makes perfume like it and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from their people.'"
And the LORD said to Moses: “Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each.34Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take fragrant spices--gum resin, onycha and galbanum--and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts,
You shall make of these an incense, a compound according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.35and make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred.
And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.36Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.
But as for the incense which you shall make, you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its composition. It shall be to you holy for the LORD.37Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD.
Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people.”38Whoever makes incense like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from their people."
