New King James VersionNew Living Translation
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:1Then the LORD said to Moses,
“On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.2“Set up the Tabernacle on the first day of the new year.
You shall put in it the ark of the Testimony, and partition off the ark with the veil.3Place the Ark of the Covenant inside, and install the inner curtain to enclose the Ark within the Most Holy Place.
You shall bring in the table and arrange the things that are to be set in order on it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and light its lamps.4Then bring in the table, and arrange the utensils on it. And bring in the lampstand, and set up the lamps.
You shall also set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony, and put up the screen for the door of the tabernacle.5“Place the gold incense altar in front of the Ark of the Covenant. Then hang the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle.
Then you shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.6Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the Tabernacle entrance.
And you shall set the laver between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.7Set the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar, and fill it with water.
You shall set up the court all around, and hang up the screen at the court gate.8Then set up the courtyard around the outside of the tent, and hang the curtain for the courtyard entrance.
“And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy.9“Take the anointing oil and anoint the Tabernacle and all its furnishings to consecrate them and make them holy.
You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy.10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and its utensils to consecrate them. Then the altar will become absolutely holy.
And you shall anoint the laver and its base, and consecrate it.11Next anoint the washbasin and its stand to consecrate them.
“Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting and wash them with water.12“Present Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and wash them with water.
You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.13Dress Aaron with the sacred garments and anoint him, consecrating him to serve me as a priest.
And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics.14Then present his sons and dress them in their tunics.
You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”15Anoint them as you did their father, so they may also serve me as priests. With their anointing, Aaron’s descendants are set apart for the priesthood forever, from generation to generation.”
Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.16Moses proceeded to do everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
And it came to pass in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.17So the Tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month of the second year.
So Moses raised up the tabernacle, fastened its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.18Moses erected the Tabernacle by setting down its bases, inserting the frames, attaching the crossbars, and setting up the posts.
And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.19Then he spread the coverings over the Tabernacle framework and put on the protective layers, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He took the Testimony and put it into the ark, inserted the poles through the rings of the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.20He took the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant and placed them inside the Ark. Then he attached the carrying poles to the Ark, and he set the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—on top of it.
And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, hung up the veil of the covering, and partitioned off the ark of the Testimony, as the LORD had commanded Moses.21Then he brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Tabernacle and hung the inner curtain to shield it from view, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the table in the tabernacle of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil;22Next Moses placed the table in the Tabernacle, along the north side of the Holy Place, just outside the inner curtain.
and he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.23And he arranged the Bread of the Presence on the table before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the lampstand in the tabernacle of meeting, across from the table, on the south side of the tabernacle;24He set the lampstand in the Tabernacle across from the table on the south side of the Holy Place.
and he lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.25Then he lit the lamps in the LORD’s presence, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the gold altar in the tabernacle of meeting in front of the veil;26He also placed the gold incense altar in the Tabernacle, in the Holy Place in front of the inner curtain.
and he burned sweet incense on it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.27On it he burned the fragrant incense, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He hung up the screen at the door of the tabernacle.28He hung the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle,
And he put the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.29and he placed the altar of burnt offering near the Tabernacle entrance. On it he offered a burnt offering and a grain offering, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He set the laver between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and put water there for washing;30Next Moses placed the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar. He filled it with water so the priests could wash themselves.
and Moses, Aaron, and his sons would wash their hands and their feet with water from it.31Moses and Aaron and Aaron’s sons used water from it to wash their hands and feet.
Whenever they went into the tabernacle of meeting, and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the LORD had commanded Moses.32Whenever they approached the altar and entered the Tabernacle, they washed themselves, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.33Then he hung the curtains forming the courtyard around the Tabernacle and the altar. And he set up the curtain at the entrance of the courtyard. So at last Moses finished the work. The LORD’s Glory Fills the Tabernacle
Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys.36Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it.
But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up.37But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted.
For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.38The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.
