Psalm 129
NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
1From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me. Let all Israel repeat this:1"Since my youth they have often persecuted me," let Israel repeat it,
2From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me, but they have never defeated me.2"Since my youth they have often persecuted me, yet they haven't defeated me.
3My back is covered with cuts, as if a farmer had plowed long furrows.3Wicked people ploughed over my back, creating long-lasting wounds."
4But the LORD is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly.4The LORD is righteous— he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.
5May all who hate Jerusalem be turned back in shameful defeat.5Let all who hate Zion be turned away and be ashamed.
6May they be as useless as grass on a rooftop, turning yellow when only half grown,6May they become like a tuft of grass on a roof top, that withers before it takes root—
7ignored by the harvester, despised by the binder.7not enough to fill one's hand or to bundle in one's arms.
8And may those who pass by refuse to give them this blessing: “The LORD bless you; we bless you in the LORD’s name.”8And may those who pass by never tell them, "May the LORD's blessing be upon you. We bless you in the name of the LORD."
