New Living TranslationKing James Bible
O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.1A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Interlude2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me.5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people. Interlude8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
