New Living TranslationNET Bible
O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.1A psalm of David, written when he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how numerous are my enemies! Many attack me.
So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Interlude2Many say about me, "God will not deliver him." (Selah)
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.3But you, LORD, are a shield that protects me; you are my glory and the one who restores me.
I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude4To the LORD I cried out, and he answered me from his holy hill. (Selah)
I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me.5I rested and slept; I awoke, for the LORD protects me.
I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.6I am not afraid of the multitude of people who attack me from all directions.
Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!7Rise up, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Yes, you will strike all my enemies on the jaw; you will break the teeth of the wicked.
Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people. Interlude8The LORD delivers; you show favor to your people. (Selah)
