1Then the LORD said to Moses,1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2“Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your special possession, these will be the boundaries.2"Command the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you as an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders.
3The southern portion of your country will extend from the wilderness of Zin, along the edge of Edom. The southern boundary will begin on the east at the Dead Sea.3'Your southern sector shall extend from the wilderness of Zin along the side of Edom, and your southern border shall extend from the end of the Salt Sea eastward.
4It will then run south past Scorpion Pass in the direction of Zin. Its southernmost point will be Kadesh-barnea, from which it will go to Hazar-addar, and on to Azmon.4Then your border shall turn direction from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim and continue to Zin, and its termination shall be to the south of Kadesh-barnea; and it shall reach Hazaraddar and continue to Azmon.
5From Azmon the boundary will turn toward the Brook of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.5The border shall turn direction from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and its termination shall be at the sea.
6“Your western boundary will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.6As for the western border, you shall have the Great Sea, that is, its coastline; this shall be your west border.
7“Your northern boundary will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and run east to Mount Hor,7And this shall be your north border: you shall draw your border line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor.
8then to Lebo-hamath, and on through Zedad8'You shall draw a line from Mount Hor to the Lebo-hamath, and the termination of the border shall be at Zedad;
9and Ziphron to Hazar-enan. This will be your northern boundary.9and the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and its termination shall be at Hazar-enan. This shall be your north border.
10“The eastern boundary will start at Hazar-enan and run south to Shepham,10'For your eastern border you shall also draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham,
11then down to Riblah on the east side of Ain. From there the boundary will run down along the eastern edge of the Sea of Galilee,11and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain; and the border shall go down and reach to the slope on the east side of the Sea of Chinnereth.
12and then along the Jordan River to the Dead Sea. These are the boundaries of your land.”12'And the border shall go down to the Jordan and its termination shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to its borders all around.'"
13Then Moses told the Israelites, “This territory is the homeland you are to divide among yourselves by sacred lot. The LORD has commanded that the land be divided among the nine and a half remaining tribes.13So Moses commanded the sons of Israel, saying, "This is the land that you are to apportion by lot among you as a possession, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine and a half tribes.
14The families of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received their grants of land14"For the tribe of the sons of Reuben have received theirs according to their fathers' households, and the tribe of the sons of Gad according to their fathers' households, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their possession.
15on the east side of the Jordan River, across from Jericho toward the sunrise.” Leaders to Divide the Land15"The two and a half tribes have received their possession across the Jordan opposite Jericho, eastward toward the sunrising."
16And the LORD said to Moses,16Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
17“Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun are the men designated to divide the grants of land among the people.17"These are the names of the men who shall apportion the land to you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.
18Enlist one leader from each tribe to help them with the task.18"You shall take one leader of every tribe to apportion the land for inheritance.
19These are the tribes and the names of the leaders: Tribe Leader Judah Caleb son of Jephunneh19"These are the names of the men: of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
20Simeon Shemuel son of Ammihud20"Of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammihud.
21Benjamin Elidad son of Kislon21"Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.
22Dan Bukki son of Jogli22"Of the tribe of the sons of Dan a leader, Bukki the son of Jogli.
23Manasseh son of Joseph Hanniel son of Ephod23"Of the sons of Joseph: of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh a leader, Hanniel the son of Ephod.
24Ephraim son of Joseph Kemuel son of Shiphtan24"Of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim a leader, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.
25Zebulun Elizaphan son of Parnach25"Of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun a leader, Elizaphan the son of Parnach.
26Issachar Paltiel son of Azzan26"Of the tribe of the sons of Issachar a leader, Paltiel the son of Azzan.
27Asher Ahihud son of Shelomi27"Of the tribe of the sons of Asher a leader, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.
28Naphtali Pedahel son of Ammihud28"Of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali a leader, Pedahel the son of Ammihud."
29These are the men the LORD has appointed to divide the grants of land in Canaan among the Israelites.”29These are those whom the LORD commanded to apportion the inheritance to the sons of Israel in the land of Canaan.
