Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory1For the choir director; set to El Shoshannim; Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!
to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us!2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!
Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.3O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers?4O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?
You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful.5You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.
You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke.6You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.
Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.7O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land.8You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.
Our shade covered the mountains; our branches covered the mighty cedars.10The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.
We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea; our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River.11It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.
But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass by may steal our fruit?12Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
The wild boar from the forest devours it, and the wild animals feed on it.13A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.
Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Take care of this grapevine14O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself.15Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.
For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown.16It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice.17Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.
Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more.18Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.19O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.
