This is another message that came to me from the LORD:1The word of the LORD came to me:
“Son of man, turn and face Gog of the land of Magog, the prince who rules over the nations of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.2"Son of man, turn toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Prophesy against him
Give him this message from the Sovereign LORD: Gog, I am your enemy!3and say: 'This is what the sovereign LORD says: Look, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.
I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws to lead you out with your whole army—your horses and charioteers in full armor and a great horde armed with shields and swords.4I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and bring you out with all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them fully armed, a great company with shields of different types, all of them armed with swords.
Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya will join you, too, with all their weapons.5Persia, Ethiopia, and Put are with them, all of them with shields and helmets.
Gomer and all its armies will also join you, along with the armies of Beth-togarmah from the distant north, and many others.6They are joined by Gomer with all its troops, and by Beth Togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops--many peoples are with you.
“Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them.7"'Be ready and stay ready, you and all your companies assembled around you, and be a guard for them.
A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel.8After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come to a land restored from the ravages of war, with many peoples gathered on the mountains of Israel that had long been in ruins. Its people were brought out from the peoples, and all of them will be living securely.
You and all your allies—a vast and awesome army—will roll down on them like a storm and cover the land like a cloud.9You will advance; you will come like a storm. You will be like a cloud covering the earth, you, all your troops, and the many other peoples with you.
“This is what the Sovereign LORD says: At that time evil thoughts will come to your mind, and you will devise a wicked scheme.10"'This is what the sovereign LORD says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan.
You will say, ‘Israel is an unprotected land filled with unwalled villages! I will march against her and destroy these people who live in such confidence!11You will say, "I will invade a land of unwalled towns; I will advance against those living quietly in security--all of them living without walls and barred gates--
I will go to those formerly desolate cities that are now filled with people who have returned from exile in many nations. I will capture vast amounts of plunder, for the people are rich with livestock and other possessions now. They think the whole world revolves around them!’12to loot and plunder, to attack the inhabited ruins and the people gathered from the nations, who are acquiring cattle and goods, who live at the center of the earth."
But Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish will ask, ‘Do you really think the armies you have gathered can rob them of silver and gold? Do you think you can drive away their livestock and seize their goods and carry off plunder?’13Sheba and Dedan and the traders of Tarshish with all its young warriors will say to you, "Have you come to loot? Have you assembled your armies to plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to haul away a great amount of spoils?"'
“Therefore, son of man, prophesy against Gog. Give him this message from the Sovereign LORD: When my people are living in peace in their land, then you will rouse yourself.14"Therefore, prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog: 'This is what the sovereign LORD says: On that day when my people Israel are living securely, you will take notice
You will come from your homeland in the distant north with your vast cavalry and your mighty army,15and come from your place, from the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a vast army.
and you will attack my people Israel, covering their land like a cloud. At that time in the distant future, I will bring you against my land as everyone watches, and my holiness will be displayed by what happens to you, Gog. Then all the nations will know that I am the LORD.16You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the earth. In the latter days I will bring you against my land so that the nations may acknowledge me, when before their eyes I magnify myself through you, O Gog.
“This is what the Sovereign LORD asks: Are you the one I was talking about long ago, when I announced through Israel’s prophets that in the future I would bring you against my people?17"'This is what the sovereign LORD says: Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days that I would bring you against them?
But this is what the Sovereign LORD says: When Gog invades the land of Israel, my fury will boil over!18On that day, when Gog invades the land of Israel, declares the sovereign LORD, my rage will mount up in my anger.
In my jealousy and blazing anger, I promise a mighty shaking in the land of Israel on that day.19In my zeal, in the fire of my fury, I declare that on that day there will be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.
All living things—the fish in the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people on earth—will quake in terror at my presence. Mountains will be thrown down; cliffs will crumble; walls will fall to the earth.20The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the wild beasts, all the things that creep on the ground, and all people who live on the face of the earth will shake at my presence. The mountains will topple, the cliffs will fall, and every wall will fall to the ground.
I will summon the sword against you on all the hills of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD. Your men will turn their swords against each other.21I will call for a sword to attack Gog on all my mountains, declares the sovereign LORD; every man's sword will be against his brother.
I will punish you and your armies with disease and bloodshed; I will send torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and burning sulfur!22I will judge him with plague and bloodshed. I will rain down on him, his troops and the many peoples who are with him a torrential downpour, hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
In this way, I will show my greatness and holiness, and I will make myself known to all the nations of the world. Then they will know that I am the LORD.23I will exalt and magnify myself; I will reveal myself before many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.'
