Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.1Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song! Praise him in the assembly of the godly!
O Israel, rejoice in your Maker. O people of Jerusalem, exult in your King.2Let Israel rejoice in their Creator! Let the people of Zion delight in their king!
Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp.3Let them praise his name with dancing! Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp!
For the LORD delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.5Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication! Let them shout for joy upon their beds!
Let the praises of God be in their mouths, and a sharp sword in their hands—6May they praise God while they hold a two-edged sword in their hand,
to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,7in order to take revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners.
to bind their kings with shackles and their leaders with iron chains,8They bind their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles,
to execute the judgment written against them. This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones. Praise the LORD!9and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the LORD!
