I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and bounty, but you came and defiled My land, and made My inheritance detestable.

They came in and possessed it, but they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law. They failed to perform all You commanded them to do, and so You have brought upon them all this disaster.
For the children of Israel and of Judah have done nothing but evil in My sight from their youth; indeed, they have done nothing but provoke Me to anger by the work of their hands, declares the LORD.
When I brought them into the land that I swore to give them and they saw any high hill or leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, presented offerings that provoked Me, sent up their fragrant incense, and poured out their drink offerings.
"Son of man, when the people of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds. Their behavior before Me was like the uncleanness of a woman in her monthly impurity.
They will not remain in the land of the LORD; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.
