Your rulers are rebels, friends of thieves. They all love bribes and chasing after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, and the plea of the widow never comes before them.
They have grown fat and sleek, and have excelled in evil matters. They have not taken up the cause of the fatherless, so they might prosper, nor have they defended the rights of the needy.
if you no longer oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, and no longer shed innocent blood in this place or follow other gods to your own harm,
O house of David, this is what the LORD says: 'Administer justice every morning, and rescue the victim of robbery from the hand of his oppressor, or My wrath will go forth like fire and burn with none to extinguish it because of their evil deeds.
Abandon your orphans; I will preserve their lives. Let your widows trust in Me."
He oppresses the poor and needy, he commits robbery and does not restore a pledge. He lifts his eyes to idols; he commits abominations.
Father and mother are treated with contempt. Within your walls the foreign resident is exploited, the fatherless and the widow are oppressed.
Woe to those who devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they accomplish it because the power is in their hands.
do not plot evil in your hearts against your neighbor, and do not love perjury, for I hate all these things," declares the LORD.
