A Psalm. A song for the dedication of the temple. Of David. I will exalt You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up and have not allowed my foes to rejoice over me.1A psalm; a dedication song for the house. Davidic. I will exalt You, LORD, because You have lifted me up and have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me.
O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.2 LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.
O LORD, You pulled me up from Sheol; You spared me from descending into the Pit.3 LORD, You brought me up from Sheol; You spared me from among those going down to the Pit.
Sing to the LORD, O you His saints, and praise His holy name.4Sing to Yahweh, you His faithful ones, and praise His holy name.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.5For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor, a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning.
In prosperity I said, “I will never be shaken.”6When I was secure, I said," I will never be shaken."
O LORD, You favored me; You made my mountain stand strong. When You hid Your face, I was dismayed.7 LORD, when You showed Your favor, You made me stand like a strong mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified.
To You, O LORD, I called, and I begged my Lord for mercy:8 LORD, I called to You; I sought favor from my Lord:"
“What gain is there in my bloodshed, in my descent to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?9What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your truth?
Hear me, O LORD, and have mercy; O LORD, be my helper.”10 LORD, listen and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper."
You turned my mourning into dancing; You peeled off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,11You turned my lament into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks forever.12so that I can sing to You and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise You forever.
