Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
God, give your justice to the king and your righteousness to the king's son.1Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son.
He will judge your people with righteousness and your afflicted ones with justice.2Help him judge your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly.
May the mountains bring well-being to the people and the hills, righteousness.3May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful.
May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor.4Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors.
May they fear you while the sun endures and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.5May they fear you as long as the sun shines, as long as the moon remains in the sky. Yes, forever!
May the king be like rain that falls on the cut grass, like spring showers that water the earth.6May the king’s rule be refreshing like spring rain on freshly cut grass, like the showers that water the earth.
May the righteous flourish in his days and well-being abound until the moon is no more.7May all the godly flourish during his reign. May there be abundant prosperity until the moon is no more.
May he rule from sea to sea and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.8May he reign from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.
May desert tribes kneel before him and his enemies lick the dust.9Desert nomads will bow before him; his enemies will fall before him in the dust.
May the kings of Tarshish and the coasts and islands bring tribute, the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.10The western kings of Tarshish and other distant lands will bring him tribute. The eastern kings of Sheba and Seba will bring him gifts.
Let all kings bow in homage to him, all nations serve him.11All kings will bow before him, and all nations will serve him.
For he will rescue the poor who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper.12He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them.
He will have pity on the poor and helpless and save the lives of the poor.13He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them.
He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious in his sight.14He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him.
May he live long! May gold from Sheba be given to him. May prayer be offered for him continually, and may he be blessed all day long.15Long live the king! May the gold of Sheba be given to him. May the people always pray for him and bless him all day long.
May there be plenty of grain in the land; may it wave on the tops of the mountains. May its crops be like Lebanon. May people flourish in the cities like the grass of the field.16May there be abundant grain throughout the land, flourishing even on the hilltops. May the fruit trees flourish like the trees of Lebanon, and may the people thrive like grass in a field.
May his name endure forever; as long as the sun shines, may his fame increase. May all nations be blessed by him and call him blessed.17May the king’s name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and bring him praise.
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonders.18Praise the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does such wonderful things.
Blessed be his glorious name forever; the whole earth is filled with his glory. Amen and amen.19Praise his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!
