Now Peter and John were going up together to the temple complex at the hour of prayer at three in the afternoon.1One afternoon Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
And a man who was lame from birth was carried there and placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful, so he could beg from those entering the temple complex.2And a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those entering the temple courts.
When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple complex, he asked for help. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
Peter, along with John, looked at him intently and said, "Look at us." 4Peter looked directly at him, as did John. “Look at us!” said Peter.
So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them. 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
But Peter said, "I don't have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!"6But Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”
Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong. 7Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong.
So he jumped up, stood, and started to walk, and he entered the temple complex with them--walking, leaping, and praising God.8He sprang to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and leaping and praising God.
All the people saw him walking and praising God, 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple complex. So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him. 10they recognized him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
While he was holding on to Peter and John, all the people, greatly amazed, ran toward them in what is called Solomon's Colonnade.11While the man clung to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and ran to them in the walkway called Solomon’s Colonnade.
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this? Or why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness? 12And when Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why are you surprised by this? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.
But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you.14You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
You killed the source of life, whom God raised from the dead; we are witnesses of this.15You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact.
By faith in His name, His name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. So the faith that comes through Him has given him this perfect health in front of all of you." 16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence.
And now, brothers, I know that you did it in ignorance, just as your leaders also did.17And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.
But what God predicted through the mouth of all the prophets--that His Messiah would suffer--He has fulfilled in this way. 18But in this way God has fulfilled what He foretold through all the prophets, saying that His Christ would suffer.
Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,19Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,
and that He may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah. 20that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus, the Christ, who has been appointed for you.
Heaven must welcome Him until the times of the restoration of all things, which God spoke about by the mouth of His holy prophets from the beginning.21Heaven must take Him in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God announced long ago through His holy prophets.
Moses said: The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to Him in everything He will say to you.22For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to Him in everything He tells you.
And everyone who will not listen to that Prophet will be completely cut off from the people." 23Everyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among his people.’
In addition, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those after him, have also announced these days. 24Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have proclaimed these days.
You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors, saying to Abraham, And all the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.25And you are sons of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers when He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.’
God raised up His Servant and sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways." 26When God raised up His Servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
