For the choir director: with the flutes. A Davidic psalm. Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing. 1For the choirmaster, to be accompanied by flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.
Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to You. 2Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray.
At daybreak, LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. 3In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with You. 4For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.
The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all evildoers. 5The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all workers of iniquity.
You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery. 6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.
But I enter Your house by the abundance of Your faithful love; I bow down toward Your holy temple in reverential awe of You. 7But I will enter Your house by the abundance of Your loving devotion; in reverence I will bow down toward Your holy temple.
LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my adversaries; make Your way straight before me. 8Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make straight Your way before me.
For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues. 9For not a word they speak can be trusted; destruction lies within them. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.
Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against You. 10Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.
But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May You shelter them, and may those who love Your name boast about You. 11But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever shout for joy. May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
For You, LORD, bless the righteous one; You surround him with favor like a shield. 12For surely You, O LORD, bless the righteous; You surround them with the shield of Your favor.
