Psalm 5
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
For the choir director: with the flutes. A Davidic psalm. Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing. 1Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.
Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to You. 2Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.
At daybreak, LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. 3O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with You. 4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.
The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all evildoers. 5The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery. 6You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But I enter Your house by the abundance of Your faithful love; I bow down toward Your holy temple in reverential awe of You. 7But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my adversaries; make Your way straight before me. 8Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues. 9For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.
Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against You. 10Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May You shelter them, and may those who love Your name boast about You. 11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.
For You, LORD, bless the righteous one; You surround him with favor like a shield. 12For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.
